The naked toddler rescue

So last night after a lovely dinner without the children, it was a little scary as we were out driving at 7:30pm and nearly ran into a little toddler (approx. 18 months) who was standing in the middle of the road! I gasped and told G to stop immediately as I didn't see any adults anywhere. I ran out and talked sweet to her and asked her what she was doing. Where's mommy I asked?? I had to pick her up (which was kinda awkward as she was naked from the waist down) to get her off the street. She was only a few feet away from a very BUSY intersection which leads to the main highway!! (For those of you who know SA, we had just turned right off of 20th by the Yan's restaurant.) I walked with her to the nearest neighbor to see if he knew who she was, but he didn't. The guy must have thought I was nuts at first, holding a partly naked baby!! So we walked around hoping the parents would be out looking frantically. It kinda worried me that no one was out anywhere. As time went on I was beginning to worry that no one was looking for her. Anyway, we were about to call the cops when a lady (not the mom) comes running around a corner from way up the street and was obviously flustered. She said she was a friend who was visiting and didn't know how it happened. I passed the baby over, and we turned to leave. Later I saw what looked like her dad running over. The lady had said a feeble thank you and the dad didn't say anything, so I'm not really sure what was going on in that family. Maybe they were totally flustered and didn't know what to say. Or maybe they were up to no good and totally not paying attention? Sad and scary. She was far from home and could have been badly hurt. It made me so stressed out almost, since you just imagine it being your own kid and what you'd be feeling like. You just hope it would end as happily.

9 years ago today

These are pictures of my pictures, of course. We hired a photographer who turned out to be a little weird, and went bankrupt shortly after we married and so we never did get our wedding album that we had paid for. (jerk). We hunted the fellow down a few months after and thankfully were able to get all the proofs and the negatives from him at least. I just saw him on Father's Day at the wharf and he was looking all scruffy and homeless, riding on his bike. He is a dad, and I feel sorry for him.

These other black and white photos were taken by a friend who I had done my 6 month short term missions in Mexico with. She came and did candids for us and I almost liked her pictures better than the professional ones, as they were really fun.

Oh they say when you marry in June, you're a bride, all your life.

We had a great wedding day. I guess I would change many things in hindsight, but I still love that guy with all my heart.

Lithps

Poor Liam has some little lisping issues. He sounds so cute.
His funniest mispronunciation is Chicken. He says Sicken. Every time. He just can't say the "Ch". At all.
We were going over and over with him during dinner that it is C H I C K E N. CH CH CH. No, not Sicken...Chicken. He's trying his darndest and then he gets this big smile like it all finally clicked and he said...OH, Sicken! Just like Sicamous!

We're BAAAAAaaccKKKKKK

Hi everyone... we were only gone for the weekend, but it feels like longer as we did so much in such a short time, and spent hours and hours on the road!
We had a great time...I won't tell you everything, but we had a good stop in at our good friends in Calgary overnite...

Then we went to G's cousins wedding in Red Deer. It happened to be the most perfect weather for a wedding that was outside, and then she created the most beautiful reception I have ever been to...

We spent many hours in our hotel pool, which happened to be Shea's first swim!

We stopped at a few parks along the way for some very needed breaks.

And now we're home, and just resting up before another busy week.

After the chop!

(click on it to enlarge)
I didn't get any pictures during the cut, because I was holding him! but this is just outside the salon!

He did great! I had to hold him, and he got squirmy by the end, but no tears.
He looks like such a big boy!! but the hairdresser assured me that his curls would come back. Apparently if you leave the curls too long, and then chop them off once they are long and heavy, the roots go into shock or something and the curls will never come back. But because we did it early enough, they should return!!

Before the chop

Shea is getting his first hair cut today! I took some before pics...

Father's Day at the wharf

Sunday turned out to be a beautiful day, which has been rare due to all the rain. So we took advantage of the weather and headed to the wharf for a picnic lunch. We had bought Greg a Bocci Ball set, so we had fun with that.

Our Soccer Boy

Riley finished up his soccer season with a bang today, their team scoring 12-2. They improved so much in their teamwork, passing and looking ahead. We all were cheering quite loudly and were thoroughly impressed. Two of Riley's classmates were on his team, and one of their mothers was his coach. She did a great job and we really like her. So we were very happy with his first soccer experience in Salmon Arm. Here are some cool shots from today...

We're so curious how Liam is going to be on the field next spring. So far, he's been the loudest little cheerleader ever.
