Playing with Lightroom

I started out using Picasa for all my editing needs as a beginner photographer. It is free to install and very good, but very basic, so I've been trying to find a program that would bring things up a notch. I can't say I've found it. Mainly because I really don't know much about editing in the first place. I just stumble along and hope something works out. Greg just installed this Adobe Photoshop Lightroom for me today. I really have no clue what I'm doing, but I really liked the way it did the black and white conversion especially. What do you think? And please, let me know what kind of photo editing programs you use and love.

Cool... are the baby pictures all Seamus? I like the one of Callie... the shading is almost reddish...

I use Elements, because I found it in our office a few weeks ago (no IDEA where it came from), and I'm still learning it. Christy uses Lightroom and LOVES it :)

I've heard lightroom is good too (from Christy), but don't currently use anything -- I'll have the biggest backload EVER when I finally get something. A question for you.... you have a mac, right? Do you love it? How is it for pics? (I'm trying to convince my hubby -- a very non-mac person -- that he should get me one!)

By the way, those pictures look fantastic -- very nice!

I actually was looking through your flickr photos on facebook and noticed that you had mentioned Lightroom...I hadn't heard of it, looked it up and downloaded a 30 day trial. I have to say, it is very cool. I have Elements (adobe) and have only scratched the surface of what it is capable of. I really want to eventually get Adobe CS2 (I think it's called). Lightroom and Elements could partner because they both seem to do different things...Elements can do touch ups and removing unwanted objects etc. and Lightroom, as far as I've seen, is more like a traditional darkroom but for digital.

I always love your pictures...you are a very talented lady!!
